You Got a Love Bite on Your Neck

Sweetheart Liquors is inspired by the store that Loretta visits at the beginning of the film. Right after her fiancé Johnny proposes, he gets on a plane to Sicily to visit his dying mother and Loretta goes home. She stops to get a bottle of wine to help break the news to her dad (see: "Pop Don't Like Johnny"). In this store, the married owners are having a heated conversation about whether he was looking at another woman, but then they make up as Loretta listens. I love the aesthetic of the store, the warmth of the neon signs and the way that right off the bat the movie sets up the ideas of love, cheating, affection, and arguments with your partner.
