La Boheme

From the beginning of the movie, we are drawn to the opera. We see the show's costumes and sets arriving at the Met on trucks as we approach the funeral home where Loretta works as a bookkeeper (see? this movie is also about death). When Ronnie asks her to come to the opera, Loretta has no idea what to expect. As she watches the performance of Puccini's famous opera, she starts to cry, despite not knowing what they're saying. I love that we get to see Ronnie in his sweaty, grimy, everyday life and then see him in this shiny environment - it really shows the depth that people have.
