One of the best parts of Monhegan is that you have to walk everywhere. This forces you to take life a little slower, and over the years we've found our favorite paths through the woods. This yarn reminds me of how when you step into the Monhegan forest, the sounds of the ocean and seagulls recede and you feel like you're in another place. The tree cover provides shade that allows only a little sunshine through, while the pine needles dampen your steps so all you can hear are songbirds and rustling branches. The woods on the island provide a respite from the summer sun and the strong ocean winds.
